the 'amen break' famous drum loop

nate harrison's video discusses the world-famous and infinitely-sampled 'Amen Break', a 6-second drum loop that has made its way into almost every aspect of the music industry. although a bit dry in narration, the 20-minute video is extremely packed with well-researched information and a nicely put-together piece of art in itself:

    the knife is very sharp.

The KnifeBrother and Sister Karin Dreijer Andersson and Olof Dreijer formed the obscure electronic band 'The Knife' in 1999, and started their record label Rabid Records shortly after their song 'Heartbeats' became popular via Jose Gonzales' cover of the song used on a Sony Bravia television ad. Although The Knife bluntly shows hesitance to become 'popular' or mainstream, they accepted the offer for the Sony ad largely in part to fun their record label.

Known to shy away from the media, photos of The Knife usually show them masked or in obscure costumes, adding to their mystique. Their music is not easily classified nor easily listened to the first time- obtrusive sounds and high-pitched distorted voices can overwhelm the unexperienced electronica listener. But once you play thru some of their tracks you begin to realize these two are on another level. Their compositions are very dark yet sprinkled with happy moments, one track can be a housey body track, while the next sends you off in a mental journey about taboos in the world.

Known to have performed only a small tour in 2006 with its climax at Stockholm Sweden, The Knife has released a handful of albums, a highly recommended DVD with the Stockholm Concert and Music VIdeos, and more recently launched Karin's solo music career while Olof supposedly jumped back into his own DJ project Coolof.

Some of their Albums include "The Knife", "Deep Cuts", "Hannah Med H", and "Silent Shout".

Tracks worth checkin out are 'Marble House', 'We Share Our Mother's Health', 'Heartbeats', and 'You Take My Breath Away'.
